  • The Friends of the Traverse Area District Library will host a media sale on Jan. 24 at the Woodmere Branch in Traverse City. Shoppers can pick up DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks for $5 per bag from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as funds will support library programs.  9&10 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A 24% wholesale tax on marijuana sales took effect on January 1, and Interlochen Alternative Health reported that the tax is passed from growers to customers, raising prices at its local shop. CRIME NEWS

  • Munson Medical Center resumed normal operations today after a verbal threat prompted a temporary lockdown — law enforcement confirmed that the suspect is in custody.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials opened a request for proposals on Monday night to repurpose historic buildings such as the Carnegie Library (donated by the Carnegie Foundation) and the Con Foster Building. They require projects that meet parkland rules and serve art, cultural, community, historic, or environmental purposes.  UpNorthLive
