  • The Traverse City Planning Commission discussed Tuesday night the Tommy's Express proposal for an automatic enclosed carwash with vacuum stations and a mat washing building at 1054 and 1060 East Front Street & Garfield Road on the property that previously housed a Burger King and Cuppa Joe.  UpNorthLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Central Grade School will see a partial demolition, expanded parking lot and new drop-off loop as part of its $55 million renovation. Key steps include final documents in May 2026, moving to Glenn Loomis by July, and demolition and construction through June/July 2029 (Christine Thomas-Hill presented the timeline).  Traverse City Record-Eagle

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A crew from Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City flew over West and East Grand Traverse Bays Tuesday to check ice coverage amid falling temperatures. The flight found East Bay frozen and West Bay had ice extending to Power Island (as reported by the Coast Guard).  UpNorthLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Michigan Department of Transportation is inviting community input to update its highway safety plans through an online survey available until March 15. Residents needing extra help (such as mobility or visual assistance) can contact MDOT for support.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
