  • Suttons Bay hosts Yeti Fest today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where families can join a chili cookoff, digital scavenger hunt, face painting and a free movie at Bay Theater (designed as a family-friendly event).  UpNorthLive
  • The Grand Traverse County Commission on Aging is partnering with local farmers to launch the Senior Produce Program that gives seniors fresh produce, free nutrition education, and $50 coupons from May 1 through Oct. 31 - farmers earn $50 per participant.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

CULTURE NEWS

  • Nolan's Cigar Bar and Higher Art Gallery teamed up to turn discarded cigar boxes into 30 unique art pieces for a local exhibit in downtown Traverse City. The show ‘Out of the Box: Cigar Boxes Elevated’ runs through March 14 (visit the gallery for details).  Traverse City Record-Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students returned to class Friday at Old Mission Peninsula School after a break-in on Feb. 9 and found the building repaired with Valentine’s decorations while superintendent Renee Kolle said plans for improved security and a school defenders fundraiser are underway.  UpNorthLive

  • The Antrim County Sheriff's Office is seeking volunteers for its Victim Services Unit to help families cope with loss. Applicants will train with the Michigan Sheriff's Association and must pass background checks.  UpNorthLive

  • Munson Healthcare held an open house on Thursday for a first look at the new Cadillac Surgery Center in Cadillac. The facility will offer advanced surgical care and same-day procedures — details on its official opening will be announced soon.  UpNorthLive
