- ➤ In January, local service providers counted 260 people facing homelessness in the Grand Traverse region (about 25 were unsheltered). The count helps local agencies plan services for those in need. Traverse City Record-Eagle
- ➤ Kids Coalition Against Hunger volunteers packed over 20,000 meals at Traverse City Central High School last Saturday to fight child hunger + support a global drive against hunger. Traverse City Record-Eagle
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Grand Traverse Band awarded about $911,000 in 2% allocation grants to nearly 60 local groups + organizations across northern Michigan using gaming revenue from the latter half of 2025. The funds will support local projects. Traverse City Record-Eagle
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Grand Traverse Pavilions, a county-owned skilled nursing facility, now holds a two-star rating (previously a five-star gem) after deficiencies in care led to a resident’s death. Administrators are reviewing the issues to improve care for residents. Traverse City Record-Eagle
- ➤ Gym treadmills are open again today in Traverse City, and Mental Wellness Counseling advises that small routine changes can support lasting mental wellness. - ➤ Kevin Humphrey, 39, of Traverse City battled stage 4 cancer and ran a 70.3-mile Ironman in Frankfort last September, finishing a race that tested his strength despite having only part of a lung. Traverse City Record-Eagle
