  • Norte Youth Cycling announced the appointment of board members (Judy Vajda and Steven Wade) effective Jan. 21 in Traverse City. Vajda brings a deep connection to northern Michigan's outdoors while Wade, a Traverse City resident since 2000, is drawn to the group's youth empowerment mission.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire changed ownership on Feb. 26 and will keep offering family-friendly, year-round activities while planning hotel updates, a new website and expanded events. The Michigan-based group will work with the current team + preserve the resort’s long-standing traditions.  9&10 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Interlochen Arts Academy will host internationally renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma on Saturday, Mar. 7 (at the sold-out Imagine Us concert in Corson Auditorium) to premiere a new cello concerto by Pulitzer Prize-winner Wynton Marsalis, launching the centennial tour with student performers under conductor Cristian Măcelaru.  9&10 News

  • A new 369-space parking area opened at Cherry Capital Airport last week near Costco to ease persistent parking shortages and is now officially in service ahead of the upcoming spring break travel season.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

  • Rotary Camps donated the 560-acre East Creek Reserve to the Grand Traverse Conservation District on Wednesday — the district will manage the property for public use and long-term community stewardship.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

  • Munson Medical Center received a $1 million gift from Richard and Deborah Pascoe and will enhance cardiac care during Heart Month, honoring Richard’s 40-year legacy in local healthcare. The donation will expand diagnostic and treatment options for patients.  UpNorthLive

  • Right Bower is celebrating Traverse City Restaurant Week with a $35 dinner menu from 5 to 8 p.m. and is preparing a daily dinner program to launch in June (in the same building as Old Mission Distilling). Euchre nights are held every Sunday.  UpNorthLive
