  • A traffic stop on Parsons Road and Three Mile Road on Wednesday morning led Traverse City police to execute a search warrant at a motel—after stopping a 32-year-old man driving on a suspended license.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
  • Several Police K9s in Grand Traverse County are training at Interlochen Arts Academy—preparing for their annual certification this Saturday by practicing odor detection for drugs and bombs, tracking, and apprehension work.  UpNorthLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Grand Traverse County board members met Wednesday to study how to spend millions from opioid settlement funds and plan financing for the $112 million TVC terminal expansion. Board member Darryl Nelson called for an objective process (a standardized method) for disbursing money from national opioid lawsuits.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
  • Grand Traverse County has launched a free citizen reporter app that lets drivers report potholes and road hazards by sending exact locations and a photo—this tool feeds work orders straight to crews.   • Traverse City officials will soon pilot a new child protection initiative aimed at keeping kids safe after data show more than 23,000 Michigan children are confirmed victims of abuse and neglect each year—local figures indicate cases in Grand Traverse County dropped from 488 in 2019 to 149 in 2023.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
