- ➤ Northwest Michigan Works and Walstrom Marine launched the first U.S. Department of Labor Registered Marine Services Technician Apprenticeship in northern Michigan that offers 6000 hours of on the job training (435 hours in classroom instruction) for aspiring marine technicians. 9&10 News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Leelanau Conservancy finished an eight-year project by opening a 42-mile trail network at Palmer Woods Forest Reserve on April 3, giving hikers, bikers (with mountain bike paths) and skiers year-round access across 1,115 acres. The crew meets weekly from Memorial Day to Halloween to maintain the trails. 9&10 News
