  • Peace Ranch in Traverse City welcomes volunteers for herd care, grounds maintenance, barn cleanup and administrative tasks, and it will host a new volunteer orientation on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m.—11 a.m. with training for current volunteers on the same day from 1 p.m.—3 p.m.  UpNorthLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local law enforcement is urging drivers to use caution in the construction zone around M-22 and M-72 as work begins. The Michigan Department of Transportation said road crews are rebuilding a 2.2-mile stretch from Division Street to Cherry Bend Road—adding a roundabout at Bay Street and pedestrian safety features—as state troopers monitor traffic.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
  • Grand Traverse County 911 director Corey LeCureux announced that county commissioners voted to end a multi-county call-sharing agreement—aiming to replace outdated technology—with plans to select a vendor in 2026 for a new system costing about $1M.   • Grand Traverse County ended its regional 9-1-1 arrangement after county commissioners voted unanimously on April 16th due to ongoing problems and notices from several partner jurisdictions—tests for a new system will last one year.  9&10 News
