- ➤ Providence Organic Farm in Antrim County welcomes spring with newborn lambs and calves as Andrea Romeyn and her husband Ryan run an organic farm that offers local produce, coffee, tours and Taco Saturdays—events that let visitors see where their food comes from. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Traverse City officials rejected an amendment that would give police extra tools to enforce a no-camping rule at The Pines—a park used unofficially as a campsite. City Manager Liz Vogel said commissioners worried about fines without a clear off-ramp and police will begin enforcing the rule on May 6. UpNorthLive
- ➤ On April 22, 2025, the Michigan House Energy Committee voted in favor of House Bills 4027 and 4028 to return zoning control of solar farms to local governments. More than 20 testimonies supported the bills—policymakers said they aim to let communities decide on local clean energy projects after state authorities took control in 2023. UpNorthLive
- ➤ Cherryland Center is now a designated redevelopment district that gives Garfield Township one more liquor license for a business. Township trustees voted 6—0 on Tuesday, and Garfield Township manager Chris Barsheff said state law requires $1 million in investment within the district over three years for each 1,000 residents.
