- ➤ Impact100 Traverse City announced Wednesday evening at the City Opera House that it will award $345,000 in grants to three local nonprofits, each set to receive $115,000 after a membership vote at their Annual Meeting in September. The group hopes to boost membership to 500 so it can fund grants in five focus areas for regional projects. 9&10 News
- ➤ The Manna Food Project was honored by Feeding America with a Network Celebration Award on April 24 for its work in community building and the launch of a home delivery program for homebound neighbors. The program began with mobile pantries at three fixed-income complexes in Petoskey — it now brings food directly to those who cannot visit the food truck. 9&10 News

- ➤ Bay Community Theatre in Suttons Bay will host two live music shows on May 3 and 4 as French Valley Vineyard and Hendryx House present events—one with Harry Manx performing at 7 p.m. on Saturday and another featuring young musicians from Interlochen Arts Academy beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday; tickets cost $25 in advance and $30 at the door for Saturday and $15 for Sunday. 9&10 News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Traverse City's Municipal Utilities earned national honor after its sewer relocation project won the 2025 National Project of the Year Award in Environment (valued between $1M and $5M). City Manager Liz Vogel and DMU Director Art Krueger led the project that moved a 24-inch sewer and fixed a 1930s retaining wall to protect our waterways, and the award will be given at the APWA National Awards Ceremony this August in Chicago (continuing earlier state honors). 9&10 News

- ➤ Garfield Township trustees approved an amended water contract on Tuesday that raised the daily water capacity from 5 to 6 million gallons. Traverse City had approved the change in March — both sides are now closer to resolving their long-standing water dispute — as talks continue. Traverse City Record-Eagle
- ➤ The Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners held a study session Wednesday morning to review updated plans for Project Alpha—an expansion that will combine the 911 Dispatch Center and Emergency Operations Center at the county’s LaFranier campus. Officials stated the multi-phase project is estimated to cost between $11 million and $16 million. Traverse City Record-Eagle

- ➤ Paul Bock, Munson Healthcare's first peer recovery coach, was honored as a Michigan Health Hero Award recipient for his work helping people with mental health and substance issues — the first time a peer recovery coach has received the honor. He has built peer recovery services in Traverse City and across northern Michigan since he joined in 2019. 9&10 News
- ➤ Starting May 8, Trinity Health Grand Rapids will offer pre-transplant appointments at Munson's Kidney and Hypertension in Traverse City to reduce long drives for patients from northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Nurse Jill Wagner said the evaluations—which include meetings with a nurse, social worker, and financial coordinator—aim to ease the transplant process and may expand further to improve access to care.
