  • Susan Odgers, a Traverse City resident since 1987, uses a wheelchair after a spinal stroke on a spring Saturday in 1976 and now teaches at Northwestern Michigan College while serving on local boards including the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Cat Lady Fashion Show returns May 16 at Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center. Organized by M’Lynn Hartwell and Lisa Chimner, the event—supporting TC Paw Cat Rescue—is designed to boost fundraising for cat adoption, rescue, spay and neuter programs.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Children's Museum at Grand Traverse Mall welcomes older children and school groups to explore exhibits from Greilickville along with new interactive displays. It offers a lively space for family visits and hands-on learning.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
  • Pack 36 and Troop 36 are hosting a Scout open house at Cherryland VFW Post 2780 (3400 Veterans Drive) in Traverse City at 6:30 p.m. April 29 to offer families hands-on learning in leadership and outdoor skills for youth ages 7 to 17.  9&10 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy is hosting the Great Lakes Drinking Water Conference May 20 to 21 in Traverse City with sessions on emerging contaminants, water system resiliency and cybersecurity for water systems. Pre-conference tours on May 19 are planned and registration is due by May 5.  9&10 News
