- ➤ Jeremy Moore, known for helping neighbors and teaching bowling, has been absent as he battles an unexplained illness. His family will soon travel to the Mayo Clinic for treatment and is asking local donors for support. 9&10 News
- ➤ Volunteers and city officials worked together on Monday to clean up the Pines in Traverse City, removing nearly 10 dump trucks of trash to improve health and safety for people camping there. About 30 community members joined police social workers and outreach teams as part of the ongoing cleanup effort. UpNorthLive

- ➤ Cameron Slaggert, a senior at Traverse City West Senior High School, was named Student of the Month by the Kiwanis Club of Traverse City — she is a member of National Honor Society, Women’s Business Club, National Spanish Honors Society, and Key Club, played varsity soccer all four years, and earned multiple academic and athletic awards. - ➤ The city manager will present Traverse City's proposed 2025/2026 budget to commissioners on May 12th, inviting residents to give feedback. A public hearing is scheduled for May 19th — if approved, the budget will be adopted at the meeting on June 2nd. UpNorthLive
- ➤ Grand Traverse Family Court administrator Kristyn Brendel said local officials requested $35 million in the state budget to build an adolescent treatment center because the region has no proper facility for juvenile offenders with mental health issues. State Rep. John Roth noted that this proposal is part of $420 million in funding requests and said affected projects will move forward if approved—leading to improved local services. 9&10 News
- ➤ Traverse City City Commission voted unanimously to let Safe Harbor run all year as local leaders work to address the homeless encampment at Eleventh and Division. The police will enforce the no camping ordinance starting midnight tonight—city and county officials are also planning longer-term housing solutions. 9&10 News
