- ➤ The Antrim County Petoskey Stone Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary on May 16. Local organizers plan to mark the milestone with a community event that honors longstanding tradition. 9&10 News
- ➤ Grand Traverse County held its first open house Friday at Camp Greilick on Scout Camp Road, a 196-acre former Boy Scout camp now a public park featuring a disc golf course, orienteering course, human foosball court, cabins for rental, and new trails for outdoor recreation and education this summer. 9&10 News
- ➤ Tickets are now available for the 2026 Traverse City Horse Shows season, which will run from June 3 to Sept. 20 at Flintfields Horse Park in Williamsburg — hosting international jumping, VIP hospitality, chef-led dining and family-friendly group experiences with live music and vendor markets. 9&10 News
- ➤ Peace Ranch hosts Brushstrokes for Healing on May 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2570 Hoosier Valley Road—participants will paint canvas panels that form a mural supporting equine-assisted trauma therapy while enjoying lunch and guided tours. 9&10 News

- ➤ Modern Bird chefs Emily Stewart and Andy Elliott will open their new bakery café DayMade in the former Mary’s Kitchen Port space next door this fall. The venue will serve brioche donuts, Pop-Tarts, pie and breakfast sandwiches for locals. 9&10 News

- ➤ Registration for Hickory Hills Day Camp begins at 8 a.m. May 13 as the Grand Traverse Conservation District partners with the City to offer an eight-week environmental program for children (ages 7 to 12) plus sessions run Monday through Thursday starting June 22, limited to 40 campers. 9&10 News
- ➤ Northwestern Michigan College reported a 10% rise in graduation rates as 579 students earned 632 degrees and certificates, thanks to the Community College Guarantee and Michigan Reconnect programs—more than one-third received state scholarship aid. 9&10 News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Farmers in northern Michigan are watching frost risk as fruit trees bloom, with Jack King at King Orchards noting that apricots, sweet cherries, tart cherries, and apples may suffer when temperatures drop near 28 degrees. - ➤ Traverse City officials plan to replace the Cass Street crosswalk and add pedestrian bump outs in May 2026, keeping the area accessible for foot traffic and deliveries. Construction will begin on a covered pavilion for the farmers market after the National Cherry Festival in July. 9&10 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Munson Healthcare will open a new ambulatory surgical center in Cadillac this summer to offer cost-effective same-day procedures for residents who currently drive 45-60 minutes for surgery. The facility will have one operating room, three procedure rooms, & 22 beds to serve an area of 80,000 to 90,000 people. 9&10 News
