- ➤ Mike Foley was named the 2025 recipient of the Ross Biederman Volunteer Service Award by the City of Traverse City and Charter Township of Garfield Township Recreational Authority. He will receive the award on June 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Botanic Garden Visitor Center at Historic Barns Park and has led projects at Hickory Meadows and Hickory Forest since 2021. 9&10 News

- ➤ A new initiative to construct 2,500 affordable homes statewide was announced at the Mackinac Policy Conference to address local housing needs. The plan led by Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, MSHDA and Allen Edwin Homes includes a project in Grand Traverse County with 170 rental units—20% for workforce housing—set to start soon. - ➤ Officials in Grand Traverse County say the plan to distribute funds from national opioid lawsuit settlements is nearly complete.
