  • Tomorrow, June 7, Norte Youth Cycling will host its first Balance Bike Bash at the Norte Clubhouse (Grand Traverse County Civic Center) where kids ages 2 to 5 can ride bikes, enjoy face painting, music, and a bubble machine; meanwhile, an Air Quality Advisory issued for Thursday, June 5 in Grand Traverse and other counties warned residents to limit outdoor activity and watch for symptoms of respiratory distress. This advisory was issued after PM2.5 levels reached the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

  • JetBlue launched its summer route connecting Boston Logan International Airport with Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City yesterday and will operate on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays through October 25—offering special fares and easier travel between northern Michigan and New England.  UpNorthLive
  • 20Fathoms is hosting startup bootcamps beginning June 17 in Elk Rapids to teach entrepreneurs essential business skills—using the CO.STARTERS curriculum and an Indigenous Business & Marketing Essentials program to boost community growth. The bootcamps are funded by a Michigan Economic Development Corporation grant, giving local business owners free access to training and key networking opportunities.  9&10 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Munson Healthcare is addressing its worker shortage and high living costs by using a $500,000 state housing grant that it will match, as roughly 80% of its 500 vacancies are in Traverse City + the grant offers a $1,000 monthly stipend for out-of-area hires who commit to two years of work. Munson expects the initiative to attract 40 to 60 new workers, easing pressure on current staff.  UpNorthLive
  • Today, Table Health’s dietitian Carol Bell shared her favorite chopped summer salad recipe—packed with fresh produce—and encouraged residents to enjoy a healthy meal to welcome summer.  9&10 News
  • Less Cancer’s Hike and Bike America event will take place this weekend in northern Michigan, as participants hike, bike, or walk to raise funds and awareness for cancer prevention.
