EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Wednesday evening, the Northwest Education Services Adult Education program honored 47 adult learners at Milliken Auditorium by awarding 9 high school diplomas and 38 GED certificates—six graduates and three additional students were inducted into the National Adult Education Honor Society. The program partners with Networks Northwest and Northwest Michigan Works! to offer flexible, year-round classes.  9&10 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Bluegills in northern Michigan are starting to breed later than usual after a long, cold winter — a friend reported that by May 31st the fish were staging for spawning, a shift from past patterns.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

HEALTH NEWS

  • The MSU Board of Trustees held a retreat at the City Opera House to review the Street Medicine Program that sends medical students to reach Traverse City's unhoused. The program aims to lower the risk for residents—whose mortality rate is three times higher than that of those with homes—by offering needed care on the streets.  UpNorthLive
