- ➤ The Salvation Army Traverse City Corps will launch its annual Christmas in July Red Kettle Campaign on Friday at Horizon Bookstore at 9:45 a.m. and run through Saturday with eight local businesses using bell ringers to raise $10,000 (every dollar donated is matched up to $4,000) to fund programs like the food pantry, free food market, community meals, emergency housing and utility assistance. - ➤ On July 22nd, the blood bus with Versiti Blood Center parked at the UpNorthLive Studio where viewers and staff donated 23 pints that can save 69 lives in Leelanau County. The next drive will take place on October 21st from 12-5:30 p.m.—the studio is at 8513 East Traverse Highway. UpNorthLive

- ➤ Two mayoral candidates, Amy Shamroe and Tim Werner, filed by Tuesday 4 p.m. in Traverse City; five city commissioner candidates—Lance Boehmer, Kenneth M. - ➤ Traverse City commissioners unanimously appointed Benjamin Marentette as interim city manager after Liz Vogel left the role.
