Good morning, Traverse City. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 11th of August.

  • Two northern Michigan non-profits were each awarded $134,000 by Impact 100—Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation will use its funds to cover final construction costs for an affordable housing project in Petoskey, and Manna Food Project will install 24/7 food lockers outside its Harbor Springs building. The grants, funded by 268 local women donating $1,000 each, will support these community projects going forward.  UpNorthLive

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Golden oyster mushrooms, an invasive fungus linked to climate change, have started spreading in Michigan — the fungus is more common in southern forests though it has already reached northern areas. Developers must revise height plans for a project that will include underground valet parking plus spaces for a restaurant, café and bar before a review in September.  UpNorthLive
