  • The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park launched its new Children’s Sensory Garden — built with help from the Friendly Garden Club and other local volunteers over four years — to let kids explore nature with all five senses while it remains open every day from dawn to dusk.  UpNorthLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Grand Traverse County will distribute between $25,000 and $100,000 to area service organizations from $500K in marijuana revenue for 2025, and applications will open in September. The county plans to support its strategic goals—such as sustainable growth and addressing community needs—by awarding grants to nonprofits, churches, educational institutions and economic development groups.  9&10 News
  • Residents planning summer projects are advised to call Miss Dig three days before starting any digging to avoid hitting underground utility lines—water, gas, or electric. Crews will mark these lines when notified and homeowners can dial 8-1-1 to receive this safety service.  9&10 News
