ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The U.S. Coast Guard air station Traverse City rescued four children stranded on a rock near the Black Beach Trailhead in Silver Bay on August 17th after crews responded to a 9 p.m. call about hazardous conditions—emergency teams and the children’s parents were ready when they landed them safely.  UpNorthLive

CRIME NEWS

  • The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office released surveillance footage from the Garfield Township Walmart stabbing on July 26 in response to a FOIA request, and suspect Bradford Gille faces terrorism charges and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder while all victims were released from Munson Medical Center.  UpNorthLive

  • More than four months after a severe ice storm, trails in Emmet County remain blocked by storm debris—hindering access for local businesses and tourists.   • The Grand Traverse Dive Team of the sheriff’s office trains regularly for water emergencies using a Remotely Operated Vehicle—ROV—to locate missing persons. The team practices in different water conditions and stresses that wearing a life jacket is key for safety.  9&10 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The West team beat East Kentwood in their home opener—marking their first win of the season. The victory sets a positive tone as they prepare for upcoming games.  9&10 News
  • Traverse City St. Francis soccer team won an 8-0 game against Hart in their first season match—Hart's goalkeeper Miguel Escamilla made strong saves before the team took control. The team, which had a 15-6 record last season, now aims to win its first district championship since 2013.  9&10 News
