- ➤ Jacobs Farm has unveiled a new corn maze that pays tribute to the Grateful Dead (celebrating their 60th anniversary) by blending the band's iconic logo with local cherries. The 10-acre maze, created each season using a GPS-guided rototiller process that started in 2008, is open for tours daily through October 31. UpNorthLive

- ➤ Final tart cherry harvest numbers across northwestern Lower Michigan showed a very light 2025 crop with the national total reaching just over 190 million pounds—about 73% of last year’s yield—indicating that prices may rise soon. Traverse City Record-Eagle
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Traverse City — Grand Traverse County elected officials approved a cross-deputization agreement on August 6 that clears jurisdiction issues between the county sheriff’s office and the Grand Traverse Band Tribal Police force.
