The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy is awarding $1 million to support the Grandview Vision redevelopment in downtown Traverse City where a vacant lot on Grandview Parkway will be converted into 20 new condominiums and retail space, and a nearby Garland Street site will add retail and a parking garage—work includes demolition, asbestos abatement, and contaminated soil removal while the city and its Downtown Development Authority contribute $1 million for pedestrian-friendly infrastructure improvements. Construction will be completed in 2028.

Cherry Capital Airport plans to build a new remote concourse that will open by next spring to handle growing passenger traffic at the airport.

A new TRIP report finds that Traverse City drivers pay $1,934 each year due to poor roads, congestion and outdated safety features, contributing to a statewide cost of $17.3 billion from extra repair, fuel and accident expenses.

The report warns that with falling funding—leading to a $3.9 billion gap—the state risks closing over 100 bridges by 2035 unless investments improve our transportation network.
