- ➤ Kathleen Prince, a Traverse City woman with cerebral palsy, has used a communication device since age 3 and now speaks on panels while mentoring others with her advanced Accent device — she has recently been hired as an ambassador for PRC and will continue to help others use modern technology to share their ideas. 9&10 News
- ➤ Traverse City Light & Power announced that the prospective buyer of its 49-acre Cedar Run property opted out of the $850,000 sale; Livwell Homes signed a purchase agreement in December 2024 with plans for public trails, natural spaces & housing. The utility said it is pausing to evaluate its next steps and potential opportunities for the property. Traverse City Record-Eagle

- ➤ The National Writers Series marks its milestone season this Fall 2025 with a lineup that begins with local author Bryan Gruley presenting his thriller 'Bitterfrost' on Sept. 5—Mary Roach, Angela Flournoy, Mitch Albom, John U. - ➤ Traverse City Area Public Schools has updated its sex ed curriculum to include topics such as sex trafficking and the dangers of pornography — a change approved by the board this week for high school courses. Traverse City Record-Eagle

- ➤ Local officials reported that water tests conducted at area beaches on August 27 and 28 met state E.coli standards—ensuring no swimming advisories are needed. The tests confirmed that water quality was safe for full body contact. Traverse City Record-Eagle
