COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A Labor Day bridge walk will start at noon from the north side of the Carl Olson bridge in Glen Arbor and will be followed by an ice cream social at the Manor on Little Glen Lake. Another event in Lake Leelanau will begin at 9 a.m. at Pedaling Beans and will end at the Boathouse, with a duck derby starting at 10 a.m.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

CULTURE NEWS

  • This summer, a collection of unseen artifacts from Traverse City's founding father Perry Hannah returned after Peg Jonkhoff received a letter from Joan Gardner (of White Bear Lake) following her husband's passing in April. The items will be used by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at the Hannah House to preserve local history.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

  • Traverse City apple growers face trade pressures and labor challenges as the Michigan Apple Committee projects a 30 million bushel harvest this season—growers note that distant market shifts affect local orchards.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
