- ➤ Six teams will compete at Turtle Creek Stadium in the third-annual International Fireworks Championship from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6. Teams will have up to 15 minutes to show displays set to music, with a Friday finale by last year's winners and a Saturday finale chosen by pyrotechnic judges—audience votes will decide the Best of Show each night. - ➤ On Tuesday night, Traverse City commissioners approved an amendment that bans drinking on public rights of way, sidewalks, parking lots, and parking structures—businesses with Liquor Control Commission licenses can still sell alcohol outdoors and violators face a civil infraction. UpNorthLive
- ➤ Area organizations in Traverse City may apply for funding from Grand Traverse County’s marijuana tax revenue fund (applications open until Oct. 1) under the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act after the county received over $900,000 from 16 establishments in 2024.
