- ➤ Traverse City held a ceremony at GT Memorial Park yesterday to honor those who died in the September 11 attacks — the Metro Fire Department and local groups led a flag ceremony with a three-bell show starting at 8:30 a.m. The event featured a prayer, a speech, and a moment of silence. - ➤ Eighth Street between Union Street and Boardman Avenue had intermittent flag control and south sidewalk closures that began Sept. 11 and will continue through Sept. 16 for replacement of private galvanized water lines — Team Elmer’s from the Traverse City Water/Wastewater Maintenance Division manages the work — and alternate routes are advised.
