  • Heart N Seoul, a Korean BBQ food truck, announced it secured a brick-and-mortar spot in Traverse City's Warehouse District and will end its food truck season to focus on a new restaurant offering Korean BBQ and entertainment.  9&10 News

CRIME NEWS

  • County officials are investigating downed stop signs in rural Grand Traverse County to see if they were removed by accident or on purpose — missing signs may lead to dangerous roads.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, Senior Readers Theatre hosts a performance for those aged 55-plus at the Old Town Playhouse at 148 E Eighth St from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.; the event is held on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month and features a Learning Lab on the fourth Saturday — no experience is needed.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

  • Yesterday, the UpNorthLive Unscripted show at 6:30 p.m. on ABC 29&8 asked viewers to vote and comment on whether enough is being done to recruit teachers in Michigan.  UpNorthLive

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Leelanau Conservancy reached its $8 million goal to restore the Sugar Loaf recreation site after more than a thousand donors helped secure a donation of (285 acres) from the current owner. The project will add trails for hiking, biking, and skiing with a new pavilion at the summit, and work will begin in spring 2026.  UpNorthLive
  • Anglers in the Northwest Lower Peninsula on September 25 caught few chinook salmon as the season ended; those who fished deeper waters caught young chinook, coho, and steelhead (with moderate coho in Platte Bay), while pier anglers caught only a few fish.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Downtown Development Authority Board met last week and received updates on two long-pending downtown projects—a permanent pavilion at the Sara Hardy Farmers Market off Union Street and plans for the Rotary Square property at 203 S. Union Street. The projects will move forward as the city makes progress on downtown revitalization.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
  • Bow hunting at Hickory Forest Natural Area will begin Oct. 1 for permit holders as Traverse City and the Charter Township of Garfield Recreational Authority issue permits on a first-come—first-served basis to those with a valid hunting license and Michigan driver’s license or ID.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
  • Michigan lawmakers must agree on a state budget soon to prevent a government shutdown; a former political staffer said chances looked dim—two local representatives remain hopeful a deal will be reached. The pressure is mounting as failure could lead to significant state disruption.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
