- ➤ Leelanau Fruit Company closed after a devastating fire halted its operations in Suttons Bay & officials reviewed the damage yesterday. Traverse City Record-Eagle
- ➤ Consumers Energy will conduct overnight maintenance on an Interlochen substation next week to improve service and cause power outages for about 1,000 homes and businesses along J. Maddy Parkway from 11 p.m. Oct. 10 until 6 a.m. Oct. 11—customers received postcards and can call with questions. 9&10 News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A local competition to improve Great Lakes water quality has narrowed its field to a few finalists, and local teams are showcasing innovative ideas that may offer better fresh-water solutions. Blue Tech Challenge organizers said the contest will continue with further reviews before a final winner is chosen. Traverse City Record-Eagle
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Traverse City Streets Division will close the sidewalk in front of 212 E. Front St. from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 for concrete repairs that may disrupt pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle traffic — officials said access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times. 9&10 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A recent RTI International study found PFAS chemicals in craft beer brewed with municipal water in Michigan where contamination is high. Mitten Brewing Company said its carbon filtration system reduces PFAS in its beer—while urging government support to address water safety. 9&10 News
