- ➤ ABC 29—8 will air the UpNorthLive Unscripted show on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. inviting viewers to vote and comment on their favorite spot to see the northern lights. UpNorthLive
- ➤ Sam Boase-Miller, an NMC teacher, composed the score for the dog-led horror film 'Good Boy' after meeting its small canine star Indy — he said Indy looked much smaller in person than on screen. Traverse City Record-Eagle

- ➤ Local economic development officials are creating the NorthSky Uncrewed Innovation Zone—an initiative that partners Northwestern Michigan College, 20Fathoms, and Traverse Connect to boost drone business growth in Grand Traverse. They received $30,000 from the Grand Traverse County Economic Development Corp last week to help start the project. Traverse City Record-Eagle
- ➤ Grand Traverse County had a 4% jobless rate in August and ranked as the fifth lowest among 83 Michigan counties—data showed unemployment dropped in all 18 labor areas compared to July. The overall jobless rates stayed a bit higher than last year’s—according to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget. Traverse City Record-Eagle

- ➤ The Northwest Education Services Board of Education appointed Michael Long as its new board trustee—he was the only person to apply for the role at a special meeting Wednesday. Traverse City Record-Eagle

- ➤ The Barley, BBQ & Beats fundraiser will take place Friday at The Park Place Hotel & Conference Center from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. People will enjoy hand-crafted cocktails, local barbecue, live performances and a donation matching program that supports Hospice of Michigan’s Open Access Program and a Memorial Wall to honor loved ones.
