- ➤ The Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency is offering new funding to help pay water and sewer bills and support plumbing repairs for low-income municipal water customers in counties including Grand Traverse—applicants must meet federal poverty guidelines or other eligibility requirements. - ➤ Old Town Playhouse started its 65th anniversary season with sold-out shows of Sister Act and began rehearsals for The Rocky Horror Show on MainStage at the end of October in Traverse City. Executive director Deb Jackson said the new shows celebrate the theater’s long history and promise more events this season. Traverse City Record-Eagle
- ➤ Scott Schwander, a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, is investigating reports that images revealed possible Native American burial sites in a Leelanau County subdivision that was home to hundreds 150 years ago. He said he hopes local authorities will review any findings so the remains can be honored properly. UpNorthLive
- ➤ Taylor Naturkas, a 22-year-old principal soloist with the Miami City Ballet who grew up in Petoskey, will perform at the inaugural Northern Michigan Dance Festival in Traverse City Oct. 10-12 — giving local audiences a chance to see ballet close to home. Traverse City Record-Eagle
- ➤ Don Was and The Pan-Detroit Ensemble will launch their soul-jazz tour at The Alluvion in Traverse City on Oct. 8 — they will perform songs from their upcoming album Groove In The Face Of Adversity along with jazz classics. Traverse City Record-Eagle

- ➤ Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department is hosting its annual openhouse today at Station 11, 3000 Albany St.—from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can tour firetrucks, meet local heroes, and enjoy food at the event. Traverse City Record-Eagle
- ➤ Traverse City commissioners will review a new draft implementation policy on Monday that could send tax-increment finance plans to a citywide vote after a previous version was rejected. City Attorney Lauren Trible-Laucht explained that dismissing a TIF plan before it reaches the ballot would conflict with charter amendments approved in 2024 — a concern that spurred the renewed review.
