- ➤ Grand Traverse and Benzie counties are joining Leelanau’s effort to expand child care with a $400,000 state grant awarded in September. The funding will support the Infant and Toddler Child Care Start-Up Expansion program backed by state Rep. Betsy Coffia and state Sen. John DaMoose. Traverse City Record-Eagle
- ➤ Kingsley High School held a pinning ceremony on Wednesday morning at Rodes Field to honor Naval Junior ROTC cadets for their hard work and leadership—local veterans, service members and first responders participated in the event as the cadets took on greater responsibility. UpNorthLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Traverse City announced updates for several reconstruction projects with Griffith Street watermain work starting today at Union Street—detouring traffic south on Cass—while subgrade and gravel work on Ninth Street begins this week with concrete and sidewalk work planned for Oct. 27. Twelfth Street work between Union and Cass has topsoiling starting this week and paving set for Oct. 27, with all projects now expected to finish on Nov. 14. Traverse City Record-Eagle
