  • Susan Odgers, a Traverse City resident since 1987 who has used a wheelchair for 49 years, faced travel challenges when her husband booked their 40th wedding anniversary trip to Mackinac Island in fall 2022 — a trip that brought back memories from her honeymoon in 1982. She teaches at Northwestern Michigan College and plays leading roles in local and national writing groups, including as a Will Rogers Humanitarian Award recipient.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

CULTURE NEWS

  • A 1931 F31 Oldsmobile coupe that took 41 years to restore sits on display at Hagerty Insurance downtown. Sue Mitchel and mechanic Dave Bailey spent decades turning the car into a treasured piece of local history — a project born of true passion.  Traverse City Record-Eagle

  • Traverse City Light & Power will host an open house on Thursday, Nov. 13 from 12-1 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. to explain its upcoming time-of-use rates (set to take effect in December and appear on January bills) and will offer light refreshments.  Traverse City Record-Eagle
